MY take on the Workshops on the Go TYPESET KIT

The first time I seen the Workshops on the Go "Typeset Kit" I knew I had to get it. However, I was sad when I realized I needed a Cricut® that would cut 12 x 12 paper instead of my small 12 x 6 paper cutting machine.

I waited and waited for the perfect sale before I realized I would not be buying a larger Cricut® machine anytime soon. No fear! I decided to cut my pages out by hand and guess what? It worked. It took me longer, but I still was able to create these pages without the larger Cricut® machine. Don't get me wrong! I still plan on buying a larger Cricut® machine, but the price has to be right for me!

Oh I used my small Cricut® machine to cut out the small items. It was the big items that I cut out by hand.

Also, I added extra embellishments to my layouts to make it my own. I really like how my layouts turned out! Now I just need to get the perfect pictures on these layouts!

"Making the GRADE" - using Typeset Paper Packet

sMiLe...Layout using Wings Paper

Close to My Heart's (CTMH) Spring/Summer 2011 Idea Book (page 22) is where I first seen this layout. I fell in love with it and knew I had to create one for myself.

I used CTMH's Magic (a how to book) to create the other side of this layout. I brought a little "magic" to the page by using a pull-out journal space (see below for more details).

See...Magic! And you thought I created a layout with no journaling! The journaling reads:

Jaide the first time you sang this song I cried. And I still cry today when I hear you sing it. The words are moving and your little angel voice touches my heart! Love you, Mommy

If you wanted you could even journal on the other side. I think I will write the words to the song on the other side of mine. The words to the song are:

He was praying in the Garden
He was praying to His Father
Before they came and took him away
He said Father I must die by the death I caused

I love him enough that nothing is too much

The pictures of my daughter were taken May 17, 2009, before church. She was only 6 years old (3 months shy of being 7). I cannot believe I am just barely getting around to scrap booking these pictures...time flies by!

I used the My Pages Talk Voice Recorder to record my daughter singing a few lines of a song and attached it to the bottom of my layout. I am so happy I recorded her back then! What a great way to help bring the layout to life. The layout pictured below shows the recorder attached. To hear my daughter sing this song click here.

Q: What if I make a layout and want to save it and purchase it with a group of layouts at a later date?

Last year I had so many people attending my workshops that I had them three days each month, so everyone could attend. However, I cancelled my workshops during the last four months of 2009, because of family and work obligations.

I missed getting together with all of my family and friends, so last month I started having the workshops again. However, I haven't found anyone that is really interested in attending, or coming over just to scrapbook. Therefore, I may have to cancel them once again. =(

Zions - NO Arches National Park

I titled it Zions by mistake. The title should have read Arches. I used liquid glass on the letters, so I was unable to remove them. I could have used more paper and redid that part of the layout, but I decided against it. I am an airhead, so leaving the layout with the incorrect title is so ME!

This card is 4" x 4". I used color pencil to color the little princess. I need to work on my coloring techniques that's for sure!

The idea for this 4" x 4" card came from CTMH Spring 2009 Idea Book (page 55). I kept the card simple. I love that cute bird!

This is a 3" x 3" card. It uses older paper (Let's Get Together). I love how it turned out.

This is the layout I did for a swap at an all day retreat at Sheri R's house. Only a few people were invited, so I was honored to be one of the few to attend. I received 14 projects to make, but only ended up completing a few. One project took me about 4 hours to make! I will post some of the fun projects later this week, and the others when I complete them.

I used a PageMaps layout, which I located on Jena's blog. I always find such great ideas from her blog. Thanks Jena! The pictures are of my son and daughter, which were taken in September 2007.

Sneak Peak....Can't Show You Yet!

Here is a sneak peak at a layout I will be submitting for the CTMH Album Retreat contest, in Salt Lake City, Utah. I got top 10 on a layout I submitted back in 2007 at the CTMH Album Retreat in Park City, Utah. It was a layout I did on my dad. I'm so excited I am attending another Album Retreat. I will post all the layouts here on my blog. :D

February Workshops

This 12x12 layout, two cards and coaster photo frame are for my February workshop. The left side of the layout was scraplifted from the Spring 2009 Idea Book (page 23). After I took the picture of my cards I realized the "much happiness" Kanji phrase wasn't stamped dark enough (sorry).

The picture's in my layout were taken in November 2007, at the CTMH Album Retreat in Park City, UT. Yes, that white stuff in the pictures is snow.

I will be going to the next Album Retreat in Salt Lake City, UT later this month. I am so excited. I will post all of the layouts from Album Retreat here on my blog!

Dear Santa

My children wrote letters to Santa Claus last night. I usually tuck the letters away to scrapbook at a later date and eventually misplace the them. I decided this time to quickly scrapbook their letters with a picture of Santa. The pics were taken at the mall last month.

Update: My baby sister told me I spelled Santa Claus wrong on my son's layout! Oops! I will post a correct one when/if I fix it.

This layout was created by my up-line, Brandy Jo. I enjoy going to her workshops. It's nice to get a layout already cut out for me sometimes! Thanks Brandy!

These pictures were taken last year at my daughter's Kindergarten Christmas program. She was the class clown during the program! She kept pulling the collar of her dress over her head and making funny faces. The crowd laughed, which gave her additional motivation to continue the clowning around. I was livid and embarrassed at her behavior! After the program I had other parents coming up to me saying she was great. One father even told me he stopped taping his child, so he could tape her! He probably put her on You Tube.

I had my daughter journal about this night. Here is what she said: I was funny or silly i dont no but i was funny very funny Mom was stoping me but the Pepl were laufing.

SNOW Layouts on Aspen Paper!

This layout is 9x9. The pictures are from January 2006. My son made the snowman by himself. He couldn't stack the snow balls on top of each other, so he placed them side-by-side.

This 12x12 layout was scrap lifted from Jena. I love all the layouts and cards she creates. The pictures are from January 2007. It didn't snow much that winter. I had to take my children up to the mountains so they could go sledding. If you look closely at the pictures you can see the brown colored grass just below the snow.
This 6x6 layout was also scrap lifted from Jena. Thanks Jena for your creative ideas!
